The Scrap Exchange is a 501(c)3 creative reuse center, now celebrating its 15th year. They get industrial scraps of foam, padding, stickers, gizmos, boxes, fabric, plastic, metal, velours, sequins, etc. I’m sure anybody with an active imagination could find something useful there! There are some things they ask you to take sparingly, as they don’t get many of them, but usually, you can fill a paper shopping bag with almost anything in the store for $7.50/bag per small bag, $15.00/bag for a large bag. Or buy an "Art in a Bag" bag packed with pre-selected materials for $10. Some items are individually priced. They hold regular workshops at the center for both children and adults, including teacher training workshops. They also do in-store birthday parties and "make and take" classes, and "truckload" events on your site (includes a truckload of materials and instructors). You should call for current pricing on the events. And, of course, they are always looking for volunteers! Call and give them your name and address to receive a free copy of The Scrap Book, their newsletter. (FS)
